ABOUT THE CHURCH

Summit Church is a dynamic nondenominational Christian church that is located in the northern part of the state of Nevada in the city of Sparks. Summit was planted in 1999, starting with only twenty five people meeting at the YMCA and has quickly grown to become one of the largest churches in Nevada. As the church grew, they eventually moved to their current 36- acre master planned campus, with an intentionally phased building plan, expanding to include a state of the art 1,500-seat auditorium in 2022.

Summit Church is listed as the 53rd fastest growing church in America by Outreach Magazine and is located in one of the least religious areas in the US which makes Summit a great place to do ministry! Summit celebrated 263 baptisms this last year, more than doubling from the previous year. With the recent spike in attendance of new believers and transplants to the area, Summit Church weekend services are averaging almost 2500+ people! Summit Church places a high value on living the adventure that God has for all us and desires to connect with people in Sparks and the surrounding area.

Summit is planning to launch a new campus in early 2024. The new campus will be located in Fernley, NV only a short 45 minute drive from the Sparks campus. To prepare to launch this campus, Summit Church is looking for a unique leader that will begin as the Adult Ministries Pastor, receive intentional coaching and mentorship, and then transition into the new Campus Pastor for Summit Church Fernley. The immersion of all things Summit will include working with the Spiritual Formation Team. During that time, part of the Adult Ministries Pastor’s responsibilities will be leading the group leaders and their groups from the Fernley area and will be actively recruiting a Campus Launch Team.

The Adult Ministries Pastor will have the opportunity to speak at the new Campus, with the potential opportunity to be a part of the Broadcast Teaching Team. This is a great opportunity to join a super fun and committed team working together to reach and disciple people.

ABOUT THE COMMUNITY

SPARKS, NV

Sparks is known as one of the best special events venue for northern Nevada, with attractions in downtown Victorian Square that bring hundreds of thousands of visitors to such annual events as the Sparks Farmer’s Market, Hot August Nights, Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-off, Street Vibrations, 4th of July fireworks display, and Sparks Hometowne Christmas. Sparks newest development includes the Legends at Sparks Marina, a premiere shopping and dining experience, and Wild Island Family Adventure and Water Park.

One of the best parts about living in Sparks, Nevada, is the proximity to major shops, restaurants, and entertainment places while still enjoying the beauty of nature in the many lakes, rivers, and mountains surrounding the city. Sparks is one of the best locations to live and is less than an hour’s drive to world class skiing, snowboarding, hiking, and fishing in nearby Lake Tahoe. FERNLEY, NV

Fernley is a city located in Lyon County Nevada. The area provides plenty of opportunities for fun & relaxation whether it’s taking advantage of its close proximity to nearby destinations such as Reno or Carson City which offer lots of exciting attractions or simply enjoying some bass fishing at one of its many lakes that line up against its picturesque landscape.

ABOUT THE CANDIDATE

Join the Summit Church staff in having a lot of fun serving Jesus. This position is unique, and will involve on the job training to transition from Adult Ministries Pastor to Campus Pastor. This role will include intentional onboarding time at Summit Church, Sparks Campus to absorb the Summit Church DNA prior to being launched as a campus in Fernley, NV (45 min away from Sparks).

During the time at Summit Church, Sparks Campus, the Adult Ministries/Campus Pastor will prepare for launch through mentorship under the Spiritual Formation Pastor by spending time as the Adult Ministries Pastor. This will include overseeing Rooted, Group Life, Men’s & Women’s Ministries, and their coordinators to assist in creating a robust discipleship culture. The Summit Church Adult Ministries/Campus Pastor will help our church develop, raise, and equip new and existing leaders by providing leadership direction and guidance for our network of ministry coaches and leaders.

This role will best suit someone looking for a hybrid role that is equal parts Communicator, Facilitator, and Manager. There will be a time for facilitating and managing with a need for a strong communicator with some preaching responsibilities. Ideally, this role is best suited for someone that is highly skilled in vision execution and task accomplishment, someone that sweats the details and gets them done effectively. This position is unique because it requires both strong communication abilities as well as administrative capabilities. This specific candidate needs an entrepreneurial bend, with a passion for duplicating and implementing a vision, and will require very little oversight while doing it.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 3 years vocational ministry leadership experience, with a desire and wiring to launch and lead a future campus. Ministry gifts of Leadership, Pastor/Shepherd, Teaching.

EDUCATION

Undergraduate Degree from a Christian college or university. Masters in appropriate purview preferred.

Shepherd | Support and pursue Summit’s Spiritual Pathway (Experience God, Build Community, and Impact Lives). Walk alongside our church family in various forms of pastoral counsel, including one-on-ones, weddings, funerals, etc.
Culture Carrier | Carry the heart of the senior pastors and spreads the DNA / culture of the church. Connect people to the vision of Summit Church.
