The Aaron Hur Group has partnered with Summit Church to find a talented Student Pastor who feels called to serve the students of Summit in this critical role on their team. Summit Church is searching for an inspiring Student Pastor who has a heart for the spiritual growth of students and a successful track record of expanding and developing a dynamic student ministry.
The Student Pastor will lead Summit Students into its next phase of growth and influence by implementing and articulating the vision for Summit as it continues to profoundly impact students in the Sparks area. The Student Pastor will focus on building a team of leaders and volunteers for this fast growing church. The Student Pastor will provide direct oversight and pastoral care for students and families, leadership development and strategic vision for Summit Students.
The Church
Summit Church is listed as the 53rd fastest growing church in America by Outreach Magazine and is located in one of the least religious areas in the US which makes Summit a great place to do ministry! Summit celebrated 263 baptisms this last year, more than doubling from the previous year. With the recent spike in attendance of new believers and transplants to the area, Summit Church weekend services are averaging almost 2500+ people! Summit Students MDWK has over 140 middle and high school students gathering every Wednesday to experience an energetic, engaging, and fun filled mid-week student service. As God continues to bring students, Summit is remodeling the Student and Kids areas early this Spring. The remodel will provide an intentional space to reach students in Washoe County.
The Community
Sparks has continued to grow and change over the last few decades. The city is now home to approximately 380,704 people of all ages and ethnicities. Known to cater to a variety of lifestyles, making sure to provide a place for people of all walks of life. For those looking to further their education, the University of Nevada, Reno is nearby. For the younger demographic who enjoy city living, there is Downtown Sparks and for those looking to raise a family, the quieter suburbs are perfect. For those who choose to spend their retirement years in Sparks there are both assisted and independent living options. Whatever your situation, Sparks will have a place for you. Sparks, NV is not only a great place to live, it has recently become a great place to work! Recently the community has experienced growth through an influx of new industry such as the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center and Tesla Gigafactory.

The mostly residential city has become a popular option for those wanting to steer clear of the busier Reno area, yet still enjoy the same type of atmosphere as the big little city next door. Sparks is also less than an hour drive to Lake Tahoe where you can experience world class skiing in the winter, as well as hiking and fishing during the rest of the year. The area is truly a great place to raise a family!
The Candidate
The Summit Church Student Pastor will help our church family reach, love, and make disciples of our students. This position will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Student Ministry. We desire to create environments that help students experience community and grow in their relationships with God through our discipleship process.
The Summit Church Student Pastor will build relationships with junior high and high school students, while also helping to equip parents to disciple their own children. The ideal candidate will be an energetic, organized person who is passionate about the spiritual growth for today’s students.
The following describes a few of the characteristics of the ideal candidate for the Student Pastor:
Leader: Provide direct oversight and pastoral care for students and families, leadership development and strategic vision for Summit Students. Model servant leadership while actively identifying and empowering leaders and use the gift of teaching and leadership to sharpen, refine, and mobilize students toward kingdom impact.
Builder: Develop and maintain a healthy, engaging Christ-centered discipling process that helps young people grow consistently as disciples and leaders, as they cross different life stages, while building partnerships between church, home and the community.
Shepherd: Shepherd our church family in various forms of pastoral counsel, including one-on-ones, weddings, funerals, etc. Have a lot of fun serving the Lord Jesus Christ. Demonstrates commitment to spiritual growth by spending regular time with the Lord.
Education
Bachelor’s degree with a background in Christian ministries, Biblical study, or a related field. Masters in appropriate purview preferred.
Ministry gifts of Leadership, Teaching, Pastor/Shepherd, Administration, Exhortation.

Hours and Location
Hours are Saturday-Wednesday with occasional evening and weekend meetings. The position will be based out of the Sparks area.
Compensation
Salary is commensurate with experience.
